Weekly Posting? PATHETIC, I know…

I’m sorry I’m doing another weekly Monday post on DWC and I feel like one pathetic loser, but lemme ‘splain it to you, Lucy.

I just finished up moving.

In 100 degree heat.

Humid, South Texas heat.

And I’m prone to headaches….of the “wicked bad” kind, as Jillian would say.

So with the stress and anticipation of the move from last week, the physical aspects during, the unpacking into my new digs, and the recovery…I was a little too tired. And I had nothing to write about except heavy lifting.

A meltdown was riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight on the cusp of happening, I’m just sayin.

Anywho, successful move happened. Then we had a FUN dinner with friends–with LOTS of vino…we’re in Stage 2 of South Beach now, babies, and loving that red wine is back on the menu.

Saturday was a lazy poolside day and Saturday night was AH-MAZING. We had a beautiful wedding of some dear friends who threw one of the most fun receptions. It included an 80’s hairband (fans, crimped hair, & all), delicious dinner, dancing like CRAZY, dancing on stage with the band, and an open bar.

Which let me tell you, was visited frequently. Cheese & Moo were also with us, which made for and even MORE fun time…

Which somehow, I kinda missed. I know…I have no clue how either.

Anyway, you can see why I haven’t had time to post this week, but I swear…the 4th of July is coming up and we have BIG plans with the crew from Northbound 35. And that always means a good time, perhaps a little mischief, and a lot of good pics to share. Or not.

Stay tuned DWC reader(s)!!

Monday Randoms!!

Hey DWC gang…I’m trying out a new nickname, did it work? Did it work for all one of you who read this? (Thank you reader!)

So this weekend was an eventful one…literally!! I had several things lined up and managed to make it to most of them.

Friday, I went to dinner with a group of friends and made my way out to Floore’s Country Store to see Max Stalling and Robert Earl Keen….only I missed Max because I was enjoying some yummy chalupas.

There were a TON of people there. Seriously–a TON…some of them may have come close to weighing this much as well. There was some EXCELLENT people watching to be had on Friday night, and since I’ve been doing South Beach and I’m not drinking, I really got to soak it all in.

Saturday, I woke up and decided that I was going to do nothing. And I pretty much accomplished just that. I watched True Blood back to back to back…and I’m still left wondering if I really like it or if it’s just entertaining/shocking. Honestly, I think “Twilight” is more my speed, but there’s something about this vampire theme that’s intriguing to me. And ironically, I really am not a fan of scary movies. Scared is not an enjoyable or “fun” emotion in my mind.

So is this interest disturbing to me? Slightly!!

Regardless, Winston and I sat in the La-Z-Boys and watched all day. I’ll reference this photo should you choose not to believe that she sits in her own chair:

See? I wouldn’t lie to you. I think this was a pretty intense part…you can see it in her eyes.

On Saturday, Winston and I were truly left to doing exactly what we wanted: we got some breakfast, got a diet coke, did a little drivin’, and headed home to retire in our chairs.

She loves the car.

As soon as we finished this difficult task, we got ourselves up, took a shower, and prepared for an engagement party. I know some of you may be saying to yourselves, “Libby, wasn’t that last weekend?”

Yes. Yes you’re right. But if you could only lead the glamorous life of Libby for a few weeks you would soon find that this is the norm.

The party was SO FUN!! It was given by a bunch of couples that are my age and was at the cutest house. The Bride & Groom had a blast and a good time was had by all!

Afterwards, I went to a wine bar to continue the party with a few friends…even though I wasn’t drinking. I’m into punishing myself like that apparently.

Sunday I woke up with the sun…and Winston in my face. I soon delivered her to the kitchen and went back to bed.

When I got up, we did our breakfast & diet coke run together. As you can see…no one is awake before their diet coke.

Soon after, Moo got home and we launched into Project Father’s Day. We got gifts, we went to the store, and we went home and started cookin’. For what felt like 3 days.

However, when the Pops got home, he was so surprised and that was worth it all…especially surprised at the ginormous rib eyes we came home with…which were amazing!! (Curtsy, bow, curtsy…thank you very much!)

We wound the night down around 10 or so and I went straight home and crashed in my bed. Only to look around at my room and realize that I was moving out on Thursday. THIS THURSDAY.

I have some work to do, my friends.

So it must be true what they say–the road DOES go on forever. And I’m pretty sure the parties will never end…

Say Cheese!!

So, for some reason, I have recently become a little more interested in photography.

Not just the pictures themselves, but how to take a great picture–of anything.

How to make the center of the picture focused and blur out the background. How to use natural lighting to show the emotional aspect…

How to not look like a tourist whilst doing these things.

It’s a curious thing to me and I really have played around with the idea of learning more when I have some time…which is never really. Nonetheless, I still am very interested and love the artistic aspect of it.

That said, I have a great camera–I got it a year ago, so it’s basically brand new–but I keep getting distracted by the big ol’ turny-lense cameras. I don’t even know what they’re called…I’m going to be soooo good at this!

Admittedly, some of this may be to appease my cravings of getting a new toy–I’m a TOTAL nerd like that, if you haven’t figured that out. New computers, cell phones, landline phones, cameras, anything like that I really get excited about. (I used to wander the aisles of Best Buy looking for the coolest new phone to have in my room. Honestly. I swear I’m a normal girl.)

Anywho, regardless of where this new interest is coming from, it’s something I’m really thinking about getting into. So if any of you are any more into this than me (like, you know the name of the camera I was talking about up there) shoot me an email or post a comment letting me know any tips you have on breaking into it.

I’m open to any suggestions since I basically know nothing about it.

On a MUCH less serious note I have a few quick things to say:

1) South Beach update: down 5lbs. That’s right. One week, baby. This thing works.

2) Real Housewives of NJ: you’d best watch this finale if ya knew what was good fer ya. Seriously, if your life is boring, I swear this will kick it up a notch.

3) Bachelorette: Jillian–please drain the info out of creepy Tanner P. (toe fetish guy) and get on with it. And send Wes home already–I’m tired of that awful song.

Have a great week everybody!! Don’t forget to email me your photography expertise here!!

I’m So Excited & I Just Can’t Hide It!!!

So I went to dinner with my friends E & B last night and watched the Finals. During our dinner conversation (which sounds so fancy, but really we were sitting on paper towels sweating our butts off at a BBQ joint–literally) this lovely little gem was presented to us.

Please, please…if you’ve ever in your life loved Saved By The Bell, Zack Morris, or anything related to the early 90’s, watch this. I know it’s a tad long, but I PROMISE you…worth every minute. We were laughing so hard when we watched this because Mark Paul Gosselaar doesn’t break character for one minute.

You’re welcome.

Happy Friday everyone!! Enjoy it and have lots of happy hours for me since I won’t be able to thanks to South Beach!!

Comments are Back Up and Running…

Should I be worried? 🙂 The comment section has been fixed…have no fear, I tinkered and figured it out!!

Any day now the big technology guys are gonna come bangin’ down my door asking for my expertise in writing code.

Or not at all, actually. They may come asking for lunch…that’s much more likely.

Anyway, the comments are fixed, you’re more than welcome to post away, in fact, you’re encouraged to do so!! (Insert my *fear* here. Just kidding! Maybe.)

Sorry they were broken for a bit. I really just didn’t want to have any opposition to my trip to the zoo or daydreaming of Vegas. 🙂

Parting gifts:
If you haven’t watched the Bachelorette–shame on you. Catch up, there’s all KINDS of crazy going on.

Go see “The Hangover.” I haven’t yet but I hear it’s amazing. And I’m ready to take my Regal Crown Club membership card out for a spin.

Real Housewives of New Jersey. HOLLAH!! This is going to be VERY interesting. Tell me what kind of people have thousands of dollars in cash wadded up in their pockets/purses. I think you know.

Jon & Kate Plus 8….I watched last night. They were talking and seemed to get along fine. I smell a media spin. Don’t get me wrong. I think he messed up big time, but I think they’re possibly capitalizing on the media attention. I would too if I had 8 kids to put through college and feed everyday. I’m just sayin’!!

Lastly, I’ve started South Beach again. Also known to me in my fits of rage and carb-cravings as “The Bi*ch.” In all honesty, it’s been 2 days, but I already feel better and it hasn’t been hard. I’ll keep you posted on how this goes because weddings and events are looming in the near future.

Oh my gosh–and a high school reunion. Where the HEY did the time go??

Enough ramblings from me–comment, comment, and post another comment. Talk to you soon!! Promise to have coherent thoughts next time.

Another New Look!

I got a little bored tonight with the old look…so I switched it up a bit.  Therefore losing pretty much any gadget I had in the sidebars!!

The only big frustration point I have is that I can’t seem to move the header and description back up to the top and center…if anyone has any suggestions, I’m all ears!!
Anyway, enjoy the new posts, the new look, and keep on comin‘ back for more!! And send me some comments…I like reading them! 🙂  Also, you can always email me at downwithcantaloupe@hotmail.com
See ya!!

In the Jungle, the Mighty Jungle…

We saw 2 lions. Both sleeping. Exactly how my dogs all sleep: on their backs with their feet flopped out. They were really puttin’ out that scary vibe on Sunday. And here they are:

Should I back up for a minute and tell you why I ended up at the zoo in all of my 27 year old glory?

My dad called and asked me to go! Both of my sisters were going, too, and it was our trip out with dad. How cute is THAT??
So I rush home from church, change clothes quickly (side note: made a bad decision on my outfit as it was 2000 degrees outside and 500% humidity), and sped off to meet them at the Butterfly exhibit.
All I can say is I want to plant anything that gets me these gorgeous lil’ things flying around my head instead of mosquitoes.
I mean…how often do you get to walk into a tent filled with these:
As we left the butterfly tent, and I realized how hot it really was outside…we decided to duck into a “cave” and see what was exhibited there. Oh my…I got to test out the aquarium feature on my camera!!
I love hippos. I know they’re pretty much the meanest animals…but LOOK at these fatties!! SO. CUTE.
But this is my favorite part. Look at those stumpy legs!!
I LOVE the elephants…and we caught them during feeding time.
We saw birds of every color, we saw snakes (I closed my eyes because they terrify me), a zebra, and plenty of monkeys.
And then we ran across this guy. I swear to you, this is Winston as a rhino. This guy looked out from his little shed, wondered what in the HEY all of these idiots were doing staring at him, and then did this. (You’ll need to look closely…you can basically just see his horn glowing in the dark.)

So…missing my Winston like crazy, we headed home to see her. Dad ended up cleaning out the ice maker and emptying the contents into a pitcher to “start fresh.”
It got oddly quiet and still…like the calm before a storm. Like when the sky is creepy and green right before a tornado and there’s total stillness.
I rounded the corner and found this:
Tornado Winston had hit. And no one enjoyed ice in their drink that afternoon.

Two Things…

#1:
There have been over 2000 hits to this blog since it started about 2 months ago!!! THANK YOU for coming to check it out, thank you for reading, and thank you for coming back time and again!! I promise to keep the shenanigans coming for as long as you’re interested in reading…and maybe after that, too.

#2:
I went to the zoo yesterday with my dad and sisters…and got some AWESOME pics!! So you can count on that being your next post. Also, I’m going to try and get savvy with Vimeo today because I captured a Winston-inspired moment from a rhino. Classic.

Have a great Monday and I’ll get this post up sometime this afternoon!!
